Distraction is an attraction you do not want.

If you find yourself unable to get away for a retreat, a workshop can be a great way to immerse yourself for a few hours, encouraging you to take time out for yourself (even if it is just a few hours) helping you to restore your equilibrium.

I run regular yoga workshops at Triyoga and I manage my own workshops at Everyone Active Acton on a monthly basis in addition to collaborations with other teachers (Norman Blair & Sandrine Giacobino).

Skilfully Shifting:
Spring to Summer – A Yin Yoga & Gong Experience

Join Charlie for a nurturing 2.5 hours to round off the month of May. Within this workshop, Charlie will blend the yoga the body (Asana) and the yoga of sound (Nada) with a seasonally balancing restorative yin yoga asana practice followed by an hours soundscape.

Weaving in breathwork and micro-meditation practices taken from Shaiva-Tantra & Daoism, Charlie will take you on a journey physically and mentally with the aim of aiding a skilful seasonal transition from Spring (relating to the Liver) to Summer (relating to the heart), and elementally from Wood to Fire.

The practice will conclude with a 1 hour soundscape using 4 gongs, Tibetan Singing Bowls and other sacred sounds to give the body an opportunity to absorb the residue of the physical practice and continue the process of deep release and transformation.

This practice is suitable for anyone. If pregnant it is best not to receive your first gong bath during pregnancy.

A Complete Practice: Body, Breath, Mind + Spirit (with Gong Bath)

Immerse yourself inside a 360 degree practice of yoga to promote the health & wellness of body mind and soul in which we chant, we move, we breathe, and we relax deeply.

What can I expect?

The practice aims to balance the physical, spiritual, philosophical and mental attributes of yoga. We will spend approximately 20 minutes working with mantra, 20 minutes of breath and mudra, 40-45 minutes physical asana practice and 40 minutes of sound meditation with gongs and other instruments. Each aspect will weave together to create a complete balanced practice. The physical asana will be a slow flow, yang-yin fusion to accommodate all levels.

What will I gain from this workshop?

This complete practice is designed to promote oxytocin to restore your sense of connection to yourself and to others. Boosting your natural energy, balancing your mood, enhancing your creativity and stimulating motivation working especially to build, hone & integrate your shakti (the innate power that resides within each of us) to enable you to be your best self.

This practice is suitable for anyone. If pregnant it is best not to receive your first gong bath during pregnancy.

A triyoga beginners course is the ideal way to begin your practice and discover yoga in a safe and fun space. It is perfect for beginners and suitable for anyone looking to revisit the fundamentals of yoga.

The practice builds week-by-week, introducing you to the basics of yoga postures (asanas), sequencing, healthy alignment and breath techniques (pranayama). You’ll also learn simple meditation and relaxation techniques. You will receive personal attention from an experienced teacher and work at a pace that means you learn slowly and thoroughly, step by step.

This course creates a strong and safe foundation so you can explore the many different styles of yoga in any of our level one or open-level classes.

Please be sure to let your teacher know before class if you have any form of injury or serious illness, or if you are pregnant or have recently had a baby.

Gong Vibrations:
A Yin, Soundscape, and Gong Workshop

This 2.5 hour workshop is the perfect indulgence on a Sunday evening! Commencing with deep Yin postures which will work in to the connective tissue of the body, allowing you to experience deep release. Following this deep release Charlie will lead you through a sonic ‘soundscape’, which will include the powerful sounds of the gong, tibetan bowls, rainstick, conch and Sansula.

Gong tones are feeling tones, heard in the heart…The Gong is much more than a musical instrument, it is known to be the most powerful healing instrument, as it releases reverberating tones of fullness and resonance.

Within a gong bath the body is bathed in sound, with waves of vibrational energy enveloping the space with layer upon layer of sound waves. Feeling tones are heard not just by the ears, but felt kinaesthetically by the entire body as a collective ear. The gong bath experience is like being wrapped in a powerful cocoon of pure holistic resonance, the powerful and wholesome tones enable the listener to disappear completely in the sound field, resulting in a profound sense of well being and inner peace.

Within each workshop we will focus on Nada Yoga – chanting, the physical practices of Asana (postures) and Pranayama (breath work) for 90 – 100 minutes: my aim is to help you to develop your yoga practice and to delve deeper into the experience of yoga by looking at aspects including:


• the importance of breath – are you breathing properly?

• alignment (energetically and physically)

• development of mental presence in the postures

• chakra and energy awareness

• unlocking blocked energy and increasing the flow of prana (vital energy)

• opening the heart/correcting posture

We will end the sessions with a 50 minute sound bath, a great way to end your weekend and leave you feeling rested, restored and ready for Monday!


Who is it for?

These workshops are perfect for anyone who is fairly new to the practice of yoga OR for those who want to expand their knowledge and experience of a basic asana practice (postures) and anyone who wants to experience the wonderfully restorative effects of yoga nidra (yoga sleep) and nada yoga (sacred sound).


What do I need to know?

Wear comfortable clothing that you can move freely. Even in summer, it is advisable to bring a blanket or shawl, socks and sweater for the relaxation part of the class – when you go into a deep relaxation the body losses heat.

Mats, blocks and straps are all provided at the venue.


What is a Sound Bath?

You can either sit in meditation or lie in sarvasana (corpse pose) to experience the sound bath. Have no expectations and let the sounds created by the tibetan bowls & sansula wash over you and transport you into a deep, relaxing and healing meditation. The sounds penetrate through the body and will touch you on a cellular level. Come with an open mind and an open heart.

Each workshop is £30 when booked in advance or £35 on the day (bank transfer/cheque/cash).

Spaces are limited to 16 participants, early booking is needed to reserve your mat.
