About me

I am a lover of jazz, swimming in cold lakes, dancing salsa, singing, astrology, astronomy, relishing in silence, meditation, crystals, cats, psychology, philosophy, Chinese Medicine, Daoism, deep inner work, marvelling in the magic and mystery of life.

As a curvier yoga teacher, I am committed to offering accessible practices and teach from a trauma informed perspective which is reflected in the language I use. I teach a soulful integral practice with the aim to reconnect you to the essence of your being, giving you permission to explore yourself through mantra, breath, mudra, movement and meditation. I pull together the vast threads of yogic practices and wisdom within my classes in a cohesive way to create a balanced practice connecting all my students to the ancient lineage and traditions, it’s more than just Asana (postures).

I am an experienced crystal healer, sound therapist and gong master and have been leading ceremonies across London’s top yoga & wellness studios for many years.

“A yoga retreat with Charlie is a unique experience. I wanted a yoga experience grounded in spiritual practice, which I got. We covered five different elements each day (fire, earth, ether, air, and water). We also sang daily mantras, did yoga postures related to each element, and had a daily gong bath.

I found Charlie’s teaching to be guided but soft, resulting in a fun yet calm environment. She’s also very well-read and provides many references and books to learn more. Charlie is a kind-hearted and beautiful soul who ensured everyone enjoyed their stay at the retreat. We all left feeling rejuvenated and sad to say goodbye If you’re looking for a yoga practice based on fitness, I’d say this retreat experience may not be for you.

You should come along to one of Charlie’s retreats if you’re open to spirituality combined with yoga and want to grow your awareness in this area.”

My training, learning & qualifications

I discovered yoga in my early 20’s alongside an exploration of various ‘healing’ modalities. I began to study different forms of healing and immersed myself in daily yoga practice for several years which took me to Vrindavan, India for a life changing initial yoga teacher training within the Sivananda tradition in 2011.

Since then, I have gathered a vast amount of training and practice in different systems of yoga, meditation and healing including Yin, Restorative, Flow, Hatha, Kundalini (as taught by Yogi Bhajan), Kirtan & Pranayama. I have also trained and qualified as a music therapist (MA), crystal healer and sound healer.

I am passionate about weaving together all of these elements and do my best to transmit the rich tapestry of teachings that I have been fortunate to learn from some wonderful teachers.

My Training

Sound

What qualifies me to hold sonic fields of energy, gong baths, sound baths?

I began playing the piano at age 7, by 10 I was playing the cornet in a local brass band, by 18, that had evolved into the trumpet and flugelhorn horn in orchestras, dance bands jazz bands and later Latin bands, mariachi bands. My undergrad degree was a 4 year BMus majoring in trumpet performance and composition. This took me to California for a year where I was fortunate to play with various Latin jazz bands and orchestras.

10 years ago I embarked upon and completed an intensive 3 year masters in music therapy (psychotherapy training) @ Roehampton. That led me to working as a music therapist with a range of clients with complex needs, special needs schools, adult mental health and SEN, pupil referral units, at Barnardos, at children’s hospice, nursing homes and so on. Concurrent to all of this, I devoted time and practice to nurturing my acute awareness of sound AND healing and how resonance/vibration impacts the body-mind.

I studied singing bowls first from 2007 then gongs. Simultaneously, I developed my voice through classical vocal coaching and more importantly my confidence to be bare with my voice and not hide behind an instrument a skill which was vital to cultivate as a music therapist. Working with mantra and singing Kirtan became instrumental (no pun intended) for creating that space for me to explore myself in a new way. I’ve been creating soundbaths in my yogic spaces since 2013, perhaps before then I can’t really remember not creating sound fields.

So when I say I offer more than a gong bath, I bring together decades of musicality, healing and deep inner work to weave a symphony of sonic healing magic. I have dedicated most of my life to music, sound and healing practices. I have cultivated and refined my sonic art and my ability to create trauma-informed spaces for people to feel held and safe.

Acknowledgments of My Learning

My journey is an ever evolving and ever changing landscape of practices and teachers, and I have undertaken a lot of trainings since beginning on this path of healing myself which formally began in 2007. I have been part of 1 day courses, immersions, 2/3/4/5 day trainings and some 1/2/3 year courses, diplomas & degrees, including lots of non-formal study & training reading , listening to podcasts & watching documentaries.

Everything comes from somewhere , we can think we are being original and I also recognise that things can come from even watching a YouTube video, that’s how mirror neurones work. I have been studying the Healing arts in different forms for a significant amount of time and as a result I have evolved, merged and developed some practices as part of me making sense of my life and the journey of life more generally.

As an eternal student with a love for learning, it is impossible to keep updating my website each time I complete a course/training. My desire is to continue to grow and develop as a human being, into my own true self and continuing to heal.
I would like to acknowledge teachers who have guided me and influenced me along the way in the way of honouring my path and theirs, this is by no means a complete list and I will endeavour to keep updating.

Gongland’s 36″ Dark Water Gong taps into the profundity of its healing powers. It makes water come alive energetically. This gong helps your stress leave, brings you more into the flow.

Searching for the original meaning of the word “baptism” in which water is used to purify, one finds it is most linked in the ancient languages to “immersion.” Interesting that many gong players call their healing work, “Sound Immersions.” From the unfathomable depth to the rushing waterfall with this gong and your healings can spiritually cleanse on many levels From the unfathomable depth to the rushing waterfall.

Water is mutable element it appears in so many forms on our planet. Therefore each of these gongs is unique.

Abundance and blessings exploration and expansion opportunity and luck confidence and wisdom this is the light side of Jupiter, but as with everything, there is a shadow too.

Jupiter can mean too much, excess, greed, inflated, a sense of entitlement, taking advantage of others, pushing our luck, sense of invincibility.

Jupiter is often the eternal student, often too the philosopher; flamboyant and a bit of a diva. Charismatic philanthropist. A desire for recognition. Good reputation. Symbolises lucky breaks. Embodies the power of positive thoughts.

24” MOON SID. A2#/Ais-113,71 Hz
Based on planetary calculation
3rd Octave A3#/ais-227,43 Hz
4th Octave A4/a’-429,33 hz

The energy of the moon deals with emotions, feelings, and intuition. This gong can help to loosen and release emotions that you’re holding onto which are not your own. It aids in clearing energetic blocks preventing you from living in harmony. Many people experience a balancing of their inner male and female energies.

In astronomy, the synodic cycle of the moon (the lunar month) is the period of time between one new moon and the next.

The Synodic Moon Gong is tuned at G#2 (210.42 Hz). To find this frequency, mathematician Hans Cousto doubled the periodic frequency of the moon’s synodic, orbital cycle multiple times until the frequency reached the audible range.Through this process, he refined his theory of the law of the Cosmic Octave. He calculated the audible octave frequencies of all of the planetary bodies in our solar system, allowing us to work with the energies of the planets in sound therapy.
